Custom CNC Machined Carbon Fiber Frame Plate Details
FlexiTurn controls thin-web delamination, slot wall fiber fraying and hole-to-cutout positioning with PCD cutters, vacuum fixturing over phenolic backing board and documented feed-and-speed parameters, minimizing bottom-side splintering and hole drift while delivering controlled edge quality and repeatable dimensional accuracy from prototype to medium-volume production.
Machining Process & CapabilitiesFlexiTurn runs all CFRP operations in-house. Tooling geometry, spindle speed and feed per tooth are locked to woven carbon fiber composite.
- 3-Axis CNC Routing & Contouring: Outer frame profile, X-brace internal cutouts and slotted adjustment openings routed from 3K twill CFRP sheet under vacuum table over phenolic backing board. PCD compression cutters control top- and bottom-side splintering, particularly at thin web edges. Cosmetic face routed face-down under protective film.
- Precision Drilling: Perimeter mounting holes and central fastener holes drilled with carbide step drills at controlled feed. Heat-set inserts (M3/M4 standard) pressed post-routing; direct tapping of CFRP not offered.
- Edge Finishing: Deburred without rounding bearing surfaces. Edge sealing available on request.
- Laminate Sourcing: 3K twill quasi-isotropic CFRP in stock. Plain-weave CFRP, G10/FR4 and phenolic sheet on request. Custom layup, autoclave-cured and molded parts outside our scope.
Materials & Dimensional
Specifications Standard material: 3K twill quasi-isotropic CFRP, black epoxy matrix
On request: 3K plain-weave CFRP, G10/FR4 fiberglass, phenolic sheet
Standard thicknesses: 1.0 / 1.5 / 2.0 / 3.0 / 4.0 / 5.0 mm
Contour tolerance: ±0.10 mm on outer profile, parts ≤ 300 mm
Hole-pattern location: ±0.05 mm between perimeter holes and central datum, panels ≤ 300 mm
Thin-web edge quality: No visible interlayer separation on web edges; micro-splintering within industry limits
Surface finish: Raw 3K twill weave preserved on cosmetic face
Max panel: 600 × 600 mm off-the-shelf sheet; 600 × 400 mm per single vacuum-fixtured setup
Why Choose FlexiTurn
- PCD cutters, not worn carbide — consistent edge geometry across production runs; critical for thin X-brace webs where delamination propagates fastest.
- Vacuum hold-down + phenolic backing board — clean top- and bottom-side edges on internal cutouts; thin webs route without chip-out.
- Cosmetic-face protection — as-supplied 3K weave preserved face-down under film; no secondary sanding.
- Heat-set inserts by default — eliminates tapped-hole thread stripping.
- Thin-web routing experience — X-brace and lattice cutouts require controlled feed at narrow neck transitions; generic shops break webs or delaminate at corners.
- We say what we don’t do — no custom layup, autoclave structures, flight-certified parts or molded carbon.
- Prototypes to medium volume — no tooling cost at low volume; optimized panel nesting at production.
- Single-source across materials — CFRP frame plates plus machined metal adapters, standoffs and brackets.
How to Proceed
- Submit 2D (PDF/DWG) or 3D (STEP/IGES) CAD files, laminate type, thickness, hole-pattern datum, tolerances, cosmetic face, quantity and environment.
- Receive CFRP-specific DFM review and factory-direct quote within 24 hours.
- Prototype plates shipped with dimensional inspection report and material certification.
- Volume production with locked routing parameters and scheduled in-process hole-pattern verification.
- Global shipping, edge-protective packaging.

Q1. What types of machining services do you offer?
We provide comprehensive CNC turning and milling services. FlexiTurn machines are equipped with 8-station programmable turrets and support both turning and 5-axis milling operations, making them suitable for everything from simple cylindrical parts to complex multi-axis components.
Q2. What materials can you work with?
We machine a wide range of materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, plastics, and other engineering-grade materials. If you have a specific material in mind, just send us your requirements and we'll confirm feasibility.
Q3. What is your typical lead time?
Lead times vary depending on part complexity, quantity, and material availability. For prototypes and small-batch runs, we typically deliver within 5–10 business days. For high-volume production, we'll provide a customized schedule after reviewing your drawings. Contact us with your project details for an accurate timeline.
Q4. How do you price your services?
Pricing is based on several factors: material cost, machining time, tooling requirements, setup complexity, and order quantity. We offer competitive rates for both low-volume prototypes and high-volume production runs. Request a quote with your CAD files or drawings and we'll get back to you within 24 hours.
Q5. What quality control measures do you have in place?
We follow strict quality control procedures throughout the machining process. Our CNC systems support programmable precision down to 1 μm, ensuring high accuracy and repeatability. Every batch undergoes dimensional inspection before shipping, and we can provide inspection reports upon request.
