Quality Control
Quality Control at FlexiTurn – Precision You Can Count On
At FlexiTurn, quality is not an afterthought – it is embedded in every stage of our manufacturing process. From the moment raw material enters our workshop to the final inspection before shipment, we apply rigorous controls to ensure that every part and every billet meets or exceeds your specifications. Our quality management system is built on precision, traceability, and continuous improvement, giving you full confidence in the products we deliver.
Our Quality Philosophy
We believe that quality is the sum of many small details done right. That is why we follow a “zero‑defect mindset” while recognising that real‑world manufacturing requires robust detection and correction systems. Our quality team works independently from production to ensure impartiality, and every employee is empowered to stop the line if a non‑conformance is detected. This culture of shared responsibility ensures that quality is everyone’s job, not just the inspector’s.
1. Incoming Material Inspection
Quality starts with the raw material. We source all our materials from certified mills and established suppliers who provide full material test reports (MTRs) and mill certificates.
- Visual inspection – surface defects, rust, dimensional compliance.
- Chemical composition verification – spectrographic analysis for critical alloys.
- Mechanical property validation – hardness testing and tensile testing where required.
- Dimensional check – bar diameter, squareness, and straightness.
Only materials that pass our strict acceptance criteria are released to the production floor. All records are digitally stored for full traceability.
2. In‑Process Quality Control
During machining, we employ a combination of operator self‑checks and dedicated quality inspector patrols.
- First‑article inspection (FAI) – the first piece from each setup is thoroughly measured against the engineering drawing before production proceeds.
- Scheduled in‑process sampling – at defined intervals, parts are checked for critical dimensions using precision gauges and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs).
- Real‑time monitoring – our CNC machines are equipped with tool‑wear sensors and adaptive control systems to detect deviations early.
- Statistical process control (SPC) – for high‑volume runs, we track key dimensions on control charts to identify trends before they cause rejects.
If any deviation is found, we pause production, diagnose the root cause, and take corrective action – whether that means adjusting tool offsets, changing inserts, or reprocessing the setup.
3. Final Inspection and Testing
Before any shipment leaves our facility, every part undergoes a comprehensive final inspection.
- Full dimensional inspection – using CMM, optical comparators, height gauges, micrometers, and bore gauges. Tolerances are verified against your drawing’s GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) requirements.
- Surface finish measurement – with roughness testers to ensure Ra, Rz, or other specified parameters are met.
- Hardness and material confirmation – spot checks to verify heat treatment and material grade.
- Functional testing – for assemblies, we conduct fit‑up tests, torque checks, and leak tests as applicable.
- Cosmetic inspection – visual check for burrs, scratches, tool marks, or discoloration.
We issue a detailed inspection report (CMM report, material certificate, and other applicable records) with each shipment upon request, so you have complete documentation for your own quality assurance.
4. Calibration and Equipment Maintenance
Accurate measurement depends on properly calibrated instruments. We follow a strict calibration schedule for all gauges, CMMs, and testing equipment.
- Calibration frequency – all measuring tools are calibrated at regular intervals (typically every 6–12 months) by accredited external laboratories.
- Internal gauge control – we use master gauges and calibration blocks to verify daily checks.
- Machine maintenance – our CNC machines undergo preventive maintenance according to a documented schedule, ensuring consistent accuracy and repeatability over time.
All calibration records are maintained and available for audit.
5. Traceability and Documentation
Every product we make is traceable from raw material to final delivery.
- Batch/lot numbers – each production run receives a unique batch number linking material certificates, process settings, inspection records, and operator logs.
- Digital records – all quality data is stored in our ERP system, enabling rapid retrieval if issues arise later.
- Non‑conformance reports (NCR) – any rejected part is logged with a detailed root‑cause analysis and corrective action plan. This prevents recurrence and supports continuous improvement.
We provide full traceability documentation as part of our standard service, ensuring that you can meet your own regulatory or customer requirements.
6. Continuous Improvement
Quality at FlexiTurn is a journey, not a destination. We actively collect and analyse quality data to drive ongoing enhancements.
- Monthly quality reviews – our management team reviews defect rates, customer feedback, and process capability indices (Cpk) to identify improvement opportunities.
- Employee training – regular training updates on new inspection techniques, GD&T interpretation, and problem‑solving methodologies (8D, 5‑Why, etc.).
- Investment in technology – we upgrade our measuring equipment and software to keep pace with tighter tolerances and more complex geometries.
We also welcome customer audits and third‑party inspections – they help us raise our standards even higher.
7. Certifications and Standards
FlexiTurn operates in accordance with international quality management principles. While we are working towards formal ISO 9001:2015 certification (or already certified, if applicable), our internal quality system already conforms to its core requirements.
We also comply with industry‑specific standards such as:
- AS9100 (aerospace) – for clients who require it.
- ISO 13485 (medical devices) – on demand.
- IATF 16949 (automotive) – for automotive components.
We are happy to provide our quality manual, inspection procedures, and relevant certifications upon request.
8. Your Assurance
When you place an order with FlexiTurn, you are not just buying a part – you are buying peace of mind. Our quality control system is designed to prevent defects, detect anomalies, and correct them swiftly. We back our work with a 12‑month warranty and a responsive after‑sales team.
We invite you to challenge us with your most demanding tolerances and most complex geometries. Let us prove that Chinese precision can match the world’s best.
