Precision CNC Machining for Plastic Parts Details
FlexiTurn delivers precision 3-axis CNC milling of engineering thermoplastics, exemplified by square-flanged nylon through-hole shaft bushings engineered for wear support, electrical insulation and mechanical mounting in industrial equipment.
FlexiTurn’s plastic-dedicated CNC milling with low-heat parameters ensures bore-to-flange perpendicularity, bore accuracy, and clean edges, preventing heat-induced defects and delivering repeatable precision from prototype to medium-volume production.
Machining Process & CapabilitiesFlexiTurn executes all core machining operations in-house, with tooling geometry, cutting parameters and chip management calibrated exclusively for engineering thermoplastics to eliminate heat-induced deformation and surface damage.
- 3-Axis CNC Milling: Square flange profiles, through bores and locating shoulders are machined from solid PA66 bar or plate stock under unified primary datums, minimizing re-fixturing to preserve true bore-to-flange perpendicularity. Rough and finish passes are separated with sharp high-rake plastic-specific tooling to reduce cutting heat buildup and avoid material softening.
- Indexed Drilling: Four flange mounting holes are drilled via precision indexed fixturing tied directly to the milling datum, ensuring accurate hole positioning and consistent spacing for interchangeable mounting.
- Controlled Deburring & Edge Breaking: Critical bore edges and flange corners are deburred to controlled specifications, removing residual burrs without rounding functional locating and sealing surfaces.
- High-Volume Hybrid Option (Volume Service Only): For large-volume production runs, we can supply injection-molded nylon blanks with secondary CNC finishing to upgrade tolerance grades. Note: CNC custom machining remains our core business; injection molding is offered exclusively as a cost-optimization service for high-volume orders, not as a standalone product.
FlexiTurn sources certified premium engineering thermoplastic stock, with full material traceability and compliance documentation for every order.
- Standard materials: General engineering plastics (unfilled PA66, glass-reinforced PA66-GF30, POM, HDPE, PP); high-performance engineering plastics (PEEK, PVDF, PETP) available on request
- General dimensional tolerance: ±0.02 mm for nominal dimensions ≤ 50 mm (precision grade); tolerances scale proportionally for larger dimensions in accordance with engineering plastic machining standards
- Bore-to-flange perpendicularity: ≤ 0.02 mm relative to flange mounting face datum (for bore diameters ≤ 50 mm)
- Surface finish: As-machined Ra 0.8–1.6 μm via precision finish milling; diamond-turning and high-gloss polished finishes available on request
- Maximum 3-axis milling envelope: 600 mm × 400 mm × 300 mm
Why Choose FlexiTurn
Plastic-Specific Tooling & Parameters Eliminate Heat-Induced Drift
Most general shops process nylon with the same carbide tooling and cutting parameters used for metals, generating excessive cutting heat that causes material softening, dimensional drift and surface galling. FlexiTurn uses sharp high-rake plastic-specific tooling and optimized low-heat feed rates purpose-built for thermoplastics, delivering cleaner bore surfaces, tighter dimensional control and more consistent batch-to-batch accuracy.
Unified Datum Milling Preserves PerpendicularityMost shops process flanged bushings across 2–3 separate setups for the flange face, bore and reverse side, introducing cumulative perpendicularity error that often exceeds tolerance limits. FlexiTurn’s optimized 3-axis workflows complete all critical features in the minimum number of setups with unified datum control, delivering superior flange flatness and bore perpendicularity without re-fixturing drift.
Separated Rough & Finish Passes Prevent Post-Machining DeformationMany commodity plastic shops combine roughing and finishing in a single pass to reduce cycle time, leaving residual cutting heat that causes post-machining dimensional shift as parts cool. FlexiTurn separates rough and finish passes with controlled depth of cut to dissipate heat incrementally, minimizing post-machining deformation and ensuring long-term dimensional stability.
Scalable Custom Production From Prototypes to VolumeFlexiTurn supports full product lifecycles: low-volume prototypes machined directly from bar stock with zero tooling cost, and medium-volume custom production with optimized cycle times. For high-volume requirements, we offer hybrid molded-blank + CNC finishing as a cost-optimized option, all managed under our in-house quality system.
Full-Spectrum CNC Machining & Single-Source ConsolidationBeyond plastic components, FlexiTurn is a full-spectrum precision CNC machining manufacturer producing metal components in aluminum, stainless steel, brass and alloy steels, plus precision pre-machined billets. We can consolidate your complete bill of materials for equipment assemblies, including both insulating plastic and structural metal parts, from a single supplier.
In-House Quality & Full TraceabilityAll core operations — machining, drilling, deburring and final inspection — are completed in-house with zero subcontracting of critical processes. Full material batch traceability is maintained from raw stock to finished part, and all production adheres to our ISO 9001:2015-aligned quality management system.
