Precision CNC Machined Copper Components Details

FlexiTurn provides precision datum-controlled CNC turning for custom externally stepped pure copper threaded connectors. Fabricated from high-purity oxygen-free (OFHC C10200) copper, these components deliver superior thermal and electrical conductivity, minimal vacuum outgassing, and reliable sealing performance for thermal management, electrical conduction, and RF connection systems.

To eliminate the built-up edge (BUE), thread surface smearing, and dimensional drift common in commodity machine shops, FlexiTurn applies a copper-optimized turning process featuring specialized tooling and controlled cutting speeds. Our managed datum transfer ensures strict bore-to-thread concentricity, thread consistency, and shoulder sealing face flatness, delivering repeatable functional performance from prototype through medium-volume production.

Machining Process & Capabilities

FlexiTurn executes all core turning operations in-house, with tooling, feeds and cutting parameters calibrated exclusively for high-purity copper to suppress BUE formation and preserve surface integrity.

  • Datum-Controlled Two-Operation CNC Turning: Internal bores, outer diameters, external threads and shoulder locating faces are machined from solid OFHC copper bar stock across two optimized setups with matched primary datums, minimizing re-chucking error and ensuring true concentricity and face runout control. Rough and finish passes are separated with polished high-positive-rake carbide tooling to minimize BUE and maintain uniform thread surface finish.
  • In-House Precision Grinding Option: For high-sealing or high-precision alignment applications, internal grinding and face grinding achieve upgraded bore diameter tolerance and controlled surface finish for enhanced sealing performance and dimensional stability.
  • Secondary Finishing: Deburring, edge breaking and surface smoothing are performed to specification. Silver plating and other specialty surface treatments are available via audited approved suppliers for RF and high-conductivity applications.
Materials & Dimensional Specifications

FlexiTurn sources certified premium OFHC copper bar stock, with full material traceability and mill test reports for every order.

Why Choose FlexiTurn

XDatum-Matched Two-Operation Turning Minimizes Concentricity Drift

Most shops process double-ended copper connectors with unmatched datums across setups, introducing cumulative runout that causes uneven seal compression and assembly misalignment. FlexiTurn uses matched reference datums for both operations, delivering superior concentricity without the cost of multi-axis equipment.

Copper-Specific Cutting Parameters Eliminate BUE and Thread Smearing

Pure copper’s high ductility causes rapid BUE formation when cut with standard steel tooling, leading to rough threads, dimensional scatter and accelerated tool wear. FlexiTurn uses polished high-positive-rake carbide tooling, optimized chip loads and controlled cutting speeds purpose-built for copper, delivering clean, consistent thread profiles and stable batch-to-batch dimensions.

Integrated Grinding for Sealing-Grade Surface Integrity

For leak-critical liquid cooling applications, seal face chatter and poor surface finish directly accelerate seal wear and cause premature failure. FlexiTurn provides in-house internal and face grinding to upgrade tolerance and surface finish beyond standard turning capabilities, eliminating subcontracting lead time and ensuring controlled sealing surface quality.

Scalable Production From Prototypes to Volume

FlexiTurn supports full product lifecycles: low-volume prototypes machined directly from bar stock with zero tooling cost, and medium-to-high-volume production with optimized cycle times to meet delivery and consistency requirements.

Full In-House Control & Full Traceability

All core operations — turning, grinding, deburring and final inspection — are completed in-house with zero subcontracting of critical processes. Full material batch traceability is maintained from raw bar stock to finished part, and all production adheres to our ISO 9001:2015-aligned quality management system.
