Precision CNC Turned Bronze Components Details

FlexiTurn mill-turns C93200 tin bronze valve bodies in a single setup — wrenching hex, external thread, radial cross-hole, internal bore — for fluid control, nozzle and wear-resistant connections. One chucking holds cross-hole angular position, bore finish and thread accuracy.

Shops splitting turning and milling across setups produce angular deviation, bore tooling marks and thread variation, causing flow turbulence, seat leakage and non-interchangeable fit. FlexiTurn delivers repeatable cross-hole alignment and consistent flow-path quality from prototype through production.

Machining Process & Capabilities

FlexiTurn performs all core bronze turning in-house. Tool geometry, spindle speed and feed are set for tin bronze to control stringy chips and preserve bore finish.

  • Single-Setup Mill-Turn: Outer diameters, wrenching hex, external thread, shoulders and internal bore are turned from solid bronze bar in one chucking on a mill-turn center with live tooling. The radial cross-hole is drilled by the live tool in the same setup, preserving cross-hole angular position relative to the thread.
  • Threading: External threads are cut to ISO 6g standard. Internal threads, where specified, are milled with thread mills on the live tool. Thread class verified with go/no-go gages.
  • Cross-Hole Machining: Radial flow ports are drilled with dedicated carbide drills at controlled feed. Bore edges are deburred to reduce flow turbulence.
  • Deburring: All internal and external edges are deburred without rounding sealing or bearing surfaces.
  • Material Sourcing: FlexiTurn stocks C93200 SAE 660 tin bronze bar. C95400 aluminum bronze for higher strength and non-spark service, C54400 phosphor bronze for anti-friction bushings, and brass grades are available on request.

Materials & Dimensional Specifications

  • Standard material: C93200 SAE 660 tin bronze, certified bar stock
  • On request: C95400 aluminum bronze (higher strength, non-spark), C54400 phosphor bronze (anti-friction), C36000 brass
  • General turning tolerance: ±0.05 mm on diameters ≤ 50 mm
  • Cross-hole angular position: ±0.5° relative to thread datum; axial location ±0.05 mm
  • Internal bore surface finish: Ra 1.6–3.2 μm as turned; honed Ra 0.4 μm on request
  • External thread tolerance: ISO 6g standard; precision classes on request
  • Maximum turning diameter: 300 mm

Why Choose FlexiTurn

  • Single-setup mill-turn — rotational features plus cross-hole in one chucking; no cumulative angular deviation between thread and flow port.
  • Bronze-specific chip control — tin bronze produces long stringy chips; FlexiTurn’s tool geometry and feed parameters control chip evacuation without BUE on bore surfaces.
  • Flow-path quality — internal bores and cross-hole edges are deburred to reduce turbulence and pressure drop, not merely to remove burrs.
  • Wear-grade material matrix — C93200 standard bearing bronze; C95400 aluminum bronze for higher load and non-spark service; C54400 phosphor bronze for anti-friction bushings.
  • Scalable from prototypes to volume — bar-stock mill-turn parts, no dedicated tooling cost at low volume; optimized cycle times at production.
  • Full in-house control — turning, cross-hole drilling, deburring and inspection completed in-house with batch material traceability.
  • Single-source across materials — bronze components plus aluminum, stainless, brass and plastic parts consolidated from one supplier.
